Climate Adaptation in the cultural and creative sectors with The Green Room
26 May 2025 | 10:00–12:00 CET | Online (Zoom)
Facilitated by: Gwendolenn Sharp, The Green Room (FR)
Motovila and Kinoatelje invite you to the third workshop within the Green Transition in Culture training series, organised within the framework of the Go Green Cinema (GGC) project. This expert session focuses on a critical but often overlooked topic: adaptation to climate change in the cultural and creative sectors.
The workshop will be led by Gwendolenn Sharp, founder of The Green Room – a French-based organisation working at the crossroads of culture, environmental awareness, and social transformation since 2016. Gwendolenn will guide participants through key concepts, challenges, and practical tools that help cultural organisations become more climate resilient.
Register HERE until 25 May.
Workshop objectives
Understand the main concepts of climate change adaptation (CCA) – its history, definitions, and current relevance.
Identify the challenges cultural organisations face in adapting their work to extreme weather changes (e.g. heatwaves, floods, drought).
Explore tools, guides, and strategies for implementing adaptation at the organisational level.
Programme overview:
I. Introduction to Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) - Where do we stand? How adaptation emerged and evolved and what are key difficulties?
II. Why Should the Cultural Sector Adapt? Participant feedback and experience
III. Putting Adaptation into Practice - Overview of tools and case studies
Who is it for?
This training is primarily aimed at members of the Potujoči Kino Soča – Cinema itinerante Isonzo network and other cultural organisations based along the Slovenian-Italian border. However, the workshop is also open to anyone working in the cultural and creative sectors who is interested in learning how to implement sustainable and climate-resilient practices — especially in the context of the current European Capital of Culture GO! 2025.

About the Go Green Cinema Project (GGC)
The training programme is part of the Go Green Cinema (GGC) project, jointly developed by Kinoatelje and Motovila, which supports sustainable access to film culture in the cross-border area between Slovenia and Italy. The project combines infrastructure, mobility, and professional training to build a resilient network of cultural venues and organisations in connection with GO! 2025. GGC promotes environmentally responsible practices and aims to empower local actors with knowledge, tools, and collaboration opportunities.
The GGC project is funded by the European Union through the Small Project Fund GO! 2025 of the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia 2021–2027 programme, managed by the EGTC GO. More information about Go Green Cinema (GGC).
