The Glasbena Matica was founded in 1909 in Trieste and is now a regional music institution with schools in Gorizia, Špetar Slovenov, and Ukve. This documentary was created to mark its centenary and critically explores the musical culture of Slovenes in Italy. The film seeks the reasons for disharmony, presents various perspectives on music education, revisits the history of the institution’s founding, its suppression under fascism, its revival after World War II, and its current state. The film is enriched with archival footage and includes contributions from the music community, musicians, educators, institution representatives, and even young rock musicians.
The premiere of the film took place on November 19, 2010, in Trieste as part of the event 100 Years of Glasbena Matica / 100 anni di Glasbena matica.
